Since this is the first blog I have ever written for Abby Glenn~A Quiet Cove, I wanted to make it about something that means a lot to me. Some of you know from talking to me and my husband, Ace, that we volunteer for a local animal rescue group, Madison Animal Rescue Foundation (MARF).  What you may not know is that Ace and I are the proud “pets” of 9 very spoiled dogs! That’s right, 9!! We are also the foster parents to 3 very wonderful dogs that are looking for their “furever” homes. Our dogs are all rescue dogs and they are all different sizes and breeds. Naturally, our favorite breed is “rescue”!

MARF relies solely on volunteers, donations and fundraisers to support the animals we try to save. All of our pets live in foster homes until they find their own family and home. We are always in need for more foster homes so think about becoming a foster and saving a life! You can choose the size and breed of animal that you want to foster that will fit in with your home and lifestyle!  There is nothing easier or more rewarding than saving the life of animal in need!

Many of the animals we save are abandoned or strays.  However, some get turned in by their owners who are either unable or unwilling to continue to care for them.  The dogs and cats we foster didn’t ask to be in this situation and they deserve a chance to have a loving home and family, and I promise you, adopting or fostering these animals will make you a happier person too!  The unconditional love they give is beyond comprehension.  When they come out of the shelter and realize they are going to have a warm bed to sleep on and food in their tummy, the sigh of relief they let out is visible and you see the fear in their eyes turn to joy!  It is the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced.  Ace and I have fostered about 40 dogs in the last two years and each and every one of them has been special to us!

Now YOU have the opportunity to help even if you can’t foster or adopt!  By joining us at our annual fundraiser, PINTS FOR PAWS, you can help the fur babies and have some fun too!  PINTS FOR PAWS will be at Blue Pants Brewery on September 27, 2014, starting at 6:00 p.m.  There will be food, live music, raffles, and a silent auction with some very nice items up for grabs! Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.  Come by the office and see me for tickets!  There will also be unlimited beer samples with the purchase of your ticket. This event is a great way to support your community, not to mention getting to sample some great locally crafted beer and best of all, SAVING LIVES!!  Please come out and support this great cause!
