‘But,’ said I, ‘to be quite honest, I do not think I can live without something of a musical society. I condition for nothing else; but without music, life would be a blank for me.’ — Jane Austen (Emma)
Today, I continue the Abby Glenn~A Quiet Cove “All Things Local” series with an installment on local music. I’m a huge fan of live music of all genres and constantly checking the Valley Planet Magazine for who’s playing around town. For the last several years Abby Glenn~A Quiet Cove has provided live entertainment from local musicians for our residents at the end of the season pool parties. It’s been fun to break from the “quiet” for an evening to hear fabulous sounds carry across the lawn. However, that’s not until the end of summer so in the meantime, get out and try these local events.
Concerts at Big Spring Park
Every Monday evening through August 4th beginning at 6:30. While enjoying the music, try a pizza to go from Pane-E-Vino. You won’t be disappointed!!

Madison Gazebo Concerts
Close to home and relaxing, don’t miss this venue every Thursday night through July 31st. And check out the local shops while in Downtown Madison.
Visit their web page for complete lineup – Madison Arts Council
Concerts in the park venues encourage event goers to bring blankets or chairs, pack a picnic and cooler. Some folks who attend get creative and set up fancy portable tables, decorated with pretty table cloths and flowers. I’ve always enjoyed seeing the different displays. The events are free but donations are requested to support the local arts.
Downtown Huntsville Sounds on the Square
Every Thursday night 5:00 – 7:00 through August.
Huntsville has been growing their downtown entertainment district. Enjoy food and a drink while you walk around on the square and listen to the jam sessions.

And of course, don’t miss out on the local bands playing around town. Huntsville and Madison have very talented entertainers! A few of my favorites are Big Daddy Kingfish, Blackeyed Susan, Crush, Juice, Myerson’s Miller and Space Donkey’s. Visit their FB pages for show dates and times or in the Valley Planet Magazine. Stop by and pick up a Valley Planet in the office or in the laundry center. Ourvalleyevents also has a calendar of events.
